MEGAN DELIGHTED TO DO THE DOUBLE

Megan Niven fulfilled a dream when she took over the reins of LJ Hooker Nhulunbuy, where she had worked for more than 15 years, and rebranded the business as Gove Real Estate.

She hasn’t looked back.

Nhulunbuy, the pretty little community 650 kilometers east of Darwin, is diversifying from being a mining town to become a centre for space exploration, tourism, and a hub for medical and education.

Gove Real Estate provides property management services, sales of residential, commercial and industrial properties, and holiday rentals.

Megan took over LJ Hooker’s property portfolio – even its furniture and stationery – when the big agency closed down its Nhulunbuy operation in 2018.

She was a popular double winner at the Real Estate Institute of the NT excellence awards in October – named Regional Residential Property Manager of the Year and Regional Sales Person of the Year.

“It’s fantastic that the REINT has regional award categories because it is difficult to compete with the big agencies in Darwin,” she says.

“We just don’t have the volume of transactions that they do.

“I am humbled and overjoyed to have been awarded both regional awards. It is a testament to hard work, perseverance and never forgetting to give back. Our small agency of three staff do great things.”
