THE TERRITORY IS CHANGING… AND SO ARE WE

....a message from Sarah, Amanda and Karen of Karen Sheldon Group After many decades of service in the Northern Territory, the Karen Sheldon Group is taking a long overdue break from catering, including the operation of our beloved Speakers Corner Cafe.

After many decades of service in the Northern Territory, the Karen Sheldon Group is taking a long overdue break from catering, including the operation of our beloved Speakers Corner Cafe.

We have worked with so many wonderful people, and watched many amazing careers blossom, and we now feel it is time for some new individual adventures.

We thank all the amazing people we have worked with over the years, from local first-time trainees and apprentices to brilliant chefs from far-flung countries – and the many trainers who have worked with us passing on skills and experience to the next generation.

Thank you all for carrying our vision forward every day you worked for us.

From our early days of travelling across country each year to Kununurra with a road train full of food for the Kimberley Moon Festival, to 13 years running up and down the hills of Hidden Valley to the roar of the V8 Supercars, to more recently providing comforting sustenance to thousands upon thousands of quarantining guests, we have.

A special thanks to the fourth founding member of Karen Sheldon Catering, Julie Calvert, who was the master of our kitchen in the early days and now operates the gorgeous @Little Miss Flowers.

And to the steadfast and unflappable Michelle Byrne, our dedicated bookkeeper turned CFO, who has been keeping us in line and making sure we could sleep at night since 2004. We couldn’t have done it without you both!

We have been honoured to have been supported in our delivery of catering services by hundreds of wonderful clients and Territory suppliers over so many years. We want to thank each and every one of you for being an integral part of the success of our business journey to date. We have also assisted the legacy organisation we founded, Saltbush Social Enterprises, to strengthen its Training and Employment division,

Now while we contemplate what’s next and get back our evenings and weekends for a while, we are excited to see what the future has in store.
