COMMUNITY SPIRIT

The Northern Territory’s Mindil Beach Casino Resort is an important hub for tourism and the local economy.

But it’s also far more than that – the much-loved resort, entertainment and dining venue is also a key part of the community’s social life.

The casino resort supports a wide range of sporting, community and business groups in many ways.

Mindil Beach Casino Resort General Manager Sean Knights says: “The partnerships we are privileged to hold, combined with a strong community spirit, are the driving force behind our successful events.

“These collaborations cultivate a sense of unity and shared purpose, allowing us to create meaningful experiences and build lasting community connections.”

Stephanie Berlin, Chief Executive of Energy Club NT and Vice-Chair of Women in Thoroughbred Racing NT, says Mindil Beach Casino Resort’s unwavering support has been instrumental in advancing the missions of her two organisations.

“Their commitment goes beyond mere sponsorship,” she says. “It reflects a deep-seated dedication to the growth and development of various industries across the Territory.

“Thanks to their generous contributions and support for the Women in Thoroughbred Racing NT’s recent It’s Carnival Time luncheon, we were able to raise nearly $6000 toward the Industry Fund, empowering us to create impactful programs and foster connections within the Northern Territory racing community.

“These partnerships are a shining example of how major businesses can collaborate with non-profit organisations to achieve shared goals and make a lasting difference across all industries.”

The Darwin Turf Club’s signature black tie gala ball made a grand return to the lawns of the Mindil Beach Casino Resort this year.

Turf Club spokesman Craig Tresize says: “This decision was greatly facilitated by the professionalism of the resort’s management and staff, along with the stunning location and picturesque backdrop of Mindil Beach.

“The event was a resounding success, and the Darwin Turf Club eagerly anticipates hosting future events at this exceptional venue.”

Master Builders NT former Chief Executive Dave Malone says: “The lawns of the casino provide an outstanding setting for large events, possibly one of the best and certainly the most unique in Australia.”

He says he hears the praise from interstate visitors every year when they attend the Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.

“The awards are one of the largest industry events held across the north, with upwards of 700 people from right across construction and the Territory ditching their hi-viz for their very finest, ready to enjoy the wonderful backdrop and palm trees of Mindil Beach.”

NT News General Manager Kirsten Porteous says Mindil Beach Casino Resort has been its “trusted partner” for several years.

“We have held the majority of our client events with the casino resort – everything from banquet dinners to our economic forum Future NT to our inaugural NT News Women of the Year Awards.

“We are consistently impressed with the exceptional service provided by the team at Mindil Beach Casino Resort.

“The events team is outstanding, always ensuring everyone is taken care of. Their attention to detail and dedication make every event a success.”
