APPRENTICES THE WINNERS IN GTNT DEAL

GTNT Group is a renowned Northern Territory not-forprofit organisation holding several employment and training business units.

Within the organisation is the NT’s largest group training organisation, the Institute of Skills and Training Australia, which was named Small Training Provider of the Year at the Australian Training Awards last year and most recently named as the NT’s Apprentice Connect Provider.

It also holds the Workforce Australia contract Intojobs, delivered by GTNT Group.

GTNT Group, through their apprenticeship contract, has supported the commencement of a staggering 80,000 apprentices and trainees since they were awarded their first apprenticeship contract in 2003.

In June, GTNT Group were awarded the Australian Apprenticeship Support Services contract, which the organisation has held for 21 years in various forms.

The contract will be delivered by GTNT Group’s Apprenticeships NT arm of the organisation, which is jointly funded by the Federal Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, and the Territory Government’s Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade.

Apprenticeships NT manage and support more than 3700 “active” apprentices throughout the Territory today.

The Australian Apprenticeship Support Services Contract will ensure that apprentices are at the forefront of support services and enable some of Australia’s leading trainers to build their track record in the Territory.

Their goal remains as noble as ever: to enhance apprentice and employer satisfaction throughout their apprenticeship journey, while boosting apprentice completion rates.

Apprenticeships NT General Manager Trenna Gibsone says: “An apprenticeship or traineeship can transform someone’s life. It’s an opportunity to earn while you learn.

“Once someone has got a good trade under their belt, they can go anywhere, achieve anything, and if they want to can continue into further training within their trade or occupation.

“We have a skills shortage, and we need businesses to invest in helping train our own. Keep the skilled workers in the Territory and in your business by offering opportunities to upskill your team.“

The two-year contract is for a reworked model, which includes enhanced assessment at the beginning of the apprenticeship and strengthened mentoring services for apprentices and their employers while in training.

First Nations apprentices, women apprentices in male-dominated trades, apprentices with disability and apprentices in remote Australia will receive guaranteed access to mentoring support.

Apprenticeships NT provides:

• Career services – the team offers a matching service to help find the “right fit” for apprentices and employers, including pre-commencement advice.

• Tailored mentoring – personalised support for individuals and employers throughout the duration of an apprenticeship or traineeship.

• Support services – specialised engagement and technical support, including administration, payment and technical advice from sign-up through to completion.

GTNT Group Chief Executive Officer Kathryn Stenson says: “The organisation’s mission has always been to support people, regardless of their background, struggles or abilities. “We believe that everyone’s life can be enhanced through education, training and employment.

“The Territory’s success boils down to all the incredible people past and present who are passionate about vocational education and training.

“GTNT Group are proud to contribute to skilling Territorians.”
