GABBERT SHAPES THE TERRITORY

Wayne Gabbert is deeply committed to the growth and development of the Northern Territory, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping numerous projects and buildings in Darwin.

Gabbert Design’s practice is distinguished by two primary design divisions: one led by Sandra Gabbert, specialising in commercial interior design and fit-outs, and the other, overseen by Wayne, focusing on commercial building design and infrastructure development.

Their expertise spans a wide range of sectors, with capabilities encompassing everything from development master planning to the design of commercial buildings in a broad range of sectors.

“We are prepared to handle projects of any scale, whether large or small,” says Wayne. “As Darwin enters a phase of significant growth, we anticipate a rising demand for new multi-storey residential developments to replace the depleting stock of existing units.

“In response, we have recently designed a new 3-star hotel on the outskirts of Darwin and are in the early design stages for a 4-5 star hotel in the Darwin CBD.

“Our services also extend to other regions, including recent commercial retail concepts for Cairns and Mackay airports.”

Over the past decade, Gabbert Design has concentrated on projects within remote Indigenous communities.

It was awarded the design leadership for the Little Paradise development master plan, a visionary project for Groote Eylandt transitioning from a mining-based economy to a sustainable aquaculture economy.

In addition, the firm has launched Territory Modular Solutions, a new venture dedicated to providing customised modular solutions for remote communities, including office, residential, and medical facilities.

Gabbert Design’s portfolio includes a range of significant projects, from Australia’s first commercial spaceport to the recently awarded MXGP motocross facility at Hidden Valley.

“We are enthusiastic about contributing to the next phase of Darwin’s growth and are exploring opportunities to expand our business into new regions and sectors.”
