CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF DEADLY NAIDOC WEEK
INPEX has proudly supported NAIDOC Week celebrations in the Northern Territory since 2012.
This support has reflected the company’s commitment to recognising and celebrating the cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Larrakia, the Traditional Owners of the Darwin region.
Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation (LNAC) plays a vital role in representing Larrakia families and protecting their cultural heritage.
For INPEX, building a respectful and enduring relationship with LNAC and Larrakia people has been central to its engagement in the Northern Territory.
This partnership extends beyond work activity, focusing on long-term community connection and cultural recognition.
NAIDOC Week is one of Australia’s most important cultural celebrations, and in Darwin it is marked by some of the country’s largest and most vibrant events.
These events bring together thousands of people each year, creating a space for celebration, reflection, and connection.
In 2026, INPEX strengthened this commitment by becoming the Presenting Partner of NAIDOC Week in Darwin, working in close partnership with LNAC to support their calendar of events and highlight the 50-year milestone of NAIDOC Week “50 years of Deadly”.
This milestone builds more than a decade of collaboration and reflects INPEX’s dedication to strengthening cultural celebration and community connection.
INPEX’s involvement in NAIDOC Week is broad. The organisation’s employees actively take part in NAIDOC Week events, strengthening relationships with the Larrakia and broader community, and deepening shared cultural understanding.
Over the past 13 years, teams from INPEX and its contractors have proudly been cooking at the NAIDOC breakfast feeding tens of thousands of community members. Engagement such as this helps foster an inclusive
workplace culture, where respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and traditions is embedded.
Through ongoing support, INPEX is proud to walk alongside the Larrakia people, contributing to a legacy that honours the past and strengthens the future. TQ
