Centre Pest Management is now operating in Katherine as well as its home base of Alice Springs. 

“We are starting to see the fruits of our efforts,” says Director Rachel Ellis. “We’re well known in Alice and have built up a good reputation in the town. Now we’re doing the same in Katherine.” 

The company services commercial and residential customers, plus remote communities and cattle stations. 

“Our business vision is to ensure families in Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek, remote communities, outstations and pastoral stations in the Central and Barkly regions receive general pest treatments on a regular basis,” says Rachel. 

“We pride ourselves on conducting business in a very professional and trusting manner from the first contact with clients. We advise customers about all aspects of treatments, from what products we use to the techniques the technicians use to complete the treatments. 

“Customer satisfaction is important to our business.” 

Safety is a priority and staff are fully trained in the safe use of chemicals. 

Centre Pest Management employs 10 staff, including four technicians in Alice and two in Katherine. 

Rachel and her son-in-law Tim Gibbons, who has more than 10 years experience in the industry, founded the business in 2016 after the pest control company they were working for was sold. 

“We wanted to keep everything local, so we went out on our own,” says Alice-born Rachel. “I’ve always had a passion for running my own business – nothing beats working for yourself. It gives you a great sense of achievement. 

“But I don’t work to make lots of money; I do it to provide for my family. 

“We haven’t had any big problems running our business. We’re local, we employ locals, we pride ourselves on providing a professional service to all our customers.” 

Centre Pest Management, which is a certified member of the NT Indigenous Business Network, does more than eradicate termites and other pests – it also educates people about the dangers of pests, such as cockroaches, and the health issues they can cause

Centre Pest Management has all the necessary licences and accreditations: Pest Management Team of Licensed Technicians; Camilleri Installers Licensed; CAL accreditation; police checked team and ochre card cleared team. 

The company gives back to the community by supporting local events, sports and individuals.
