VOTE FOR SAFETY IS VOTE FOR A WORTHY CAUSE
Through an employee-led corporate giving program, Altrad Services has found a generous way to improve their team’s health and safety performance at INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG.

In 2022, Altrad Services was awarded a four-year contract to support Ichthys LNG at Bladin Point, Darwin. Committed to securing a strong local workforce, attracting trainees to the industry and sustaining long-term employment and career paths for Territorians, Altrad embarked on a community engagement program.
Supporting local community, school and sporting events was the backbone of the program, which raised the profile of the organisation and saw the local Altrad workforce rise to close to 150 full-time employees.
For Altrad Site Contractor Lead, Steve Hillman, engaging new and existing employees on safety, quality and performance targets is essential, and they needed new ways to cut through.
“Ensuring safety is our highest priority, it is essential that all employees remain dedicated to protecting both themselves and their colleagues,” he says.
“Building a sense of community among our workforce nurtures the idea that every safety-related decision we make impacts our colleagues, our families and the broader community.”
“To promote a culture of excellence, we launched a campaign that rewards employees for achieving health, safety, quality, and performance goals by making donations to Northern Territory charities and community groups of their choice.”
The Altrad Perfect Day campaign, has been an overwhelming success since its introduction in 2022 and complements other Perfect Day safety campaigns across Ichthys LNG.
At Ichthys LNG, the entire workforce is united in driving a culture of safety, operational excellence, and team wellbeing. The range of Perfect Day campaigns is designed to lift morale, strengthen safety protocols and emphasise the critical role of teamwork and precision in achieving success.
“The premise is fairly simple – employees nominate charities, nominations are then vetted and shortlisted each month and everyone gets to vote for the one that resonates with them,” Mr Hillman said.
“Each week is scored against agreed health, safety, environment, quality and project metrics and when we reach four weeks where all criteria have been achieved, we make a donation to a local charity nominated by employees.”
Charities are then invited to attend an onsite celebration where the donation is officially made and where employees can learn more about the impacts the donation will have within the community we live and love so much.
The Altrad Perfect Day campaign reflects INPEX’s strong commitment to safety and fostering positive outcomes across the Territory.
Altrad donates to recognised not-for-profits or such as sporting clubs, community youth and support groups which are nominated through their workforce. The only requirement is that the money stays in the Territory and benefits the local community.
To date, 25 charities and community groups across the Territory have been supported through the excellent performance of Altrad’s team.
