TIO: WE’RE HERE FOR TERRITORIANS
Another tremendous AFL season has finished, crowning 33 years of sponsorship by TIO.

The grand final winners – Southern Districts in the men’s premier league grade and St Mary’s in the women’s premier league – celebrated in front of thousands of fans at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
The stadium is the home of the TIO NTFL competition, which has brought together more than 5000 players in the Top End from more than 160 teams and 13 clubs.
The league has the support of 1000 volunteers and 250 umpires, who bring the 18-round season to life.
More than 40,000 Territorians take part in the game one way or another.
AFL in the NT has a 40 percent female participation rate, nearly double the national average.
Head of TIO Operations Margaret Pratten says: “For 33 years, TIO has proudly supported football in the Territory, and this season has been another fantastic celebration of the game we all love.
“Footy is more than a sport here – it’s part of life in the NT. It brings communities together, creates lifelong connections, and has been played by generations of families, many
of whom have had their moment running around on TIO Stadium.
“TIO is proud to continue supporting a game that means so much to so many Territorians.”
Head of AFL Northern Territory Sam Gibson says: “The TIO NTFL is more than just a competition – it’s a showcase of the Territory’s passion for football. Each season, we see the dedication of players, coaches, umpires and volunteers who make our game so special.
“TIO’s unwavering support has helped footy thrive across the NT, and we’re proud to celebrate a partnership that continues to strengthen our communities.”
TIO’s sponsorship is year-round and Territory wide.
TIO Traeger Park is the premier sporting facility in Alice Springs and serves as the heart of the TIO CAFL competition.
AFL is by far the most played – and loved – sport in Central Australia.
Aussie Rules in the Territory has “life-long participation” – junior players become senior players and eventually enthusiastic supporters.
For generations, the game has been a driving force for diversity and inclusion – it is seen as a symbol
of unity and community spirit.
AFL is, in many ways, a platform for all – TIO’s support spans from junior levels to elite players, ensuring football remains a cornerstone of Territory culture. TQ
