THE NORTH IS GROWING
– AND TEC AUTOMATION IS READY

Top End Controls and Automation, a female Indigenous-owned company specialising in electrical control systems and automation that has built a strong reputation for delivering first-class work is ready and able to take part in the Northern Territory’s economic regeneration.
TEC Automation and their sister company, TEC Fire, are based in Darwin but are working towards expanding throughout the NT.
The Territory is experiencing industrial growth – and that means infrastructure, resources, Defence and remote communities rely more than ever on reliable and efficient automation and fire safety systems.
TEC Automation is owned by born-and-bred Territorians Soraya and Ryan Smith.
“We understand the challenges of working in remote communities and in harsh environmental conditions” Soraya says. “We recognise that those challenges require community-focused and locally tailored solutions.
“Local Territory companies are capable of doing the work that is often given to interstate businesses.”
“We’ve shown that we can deliver high quality work. We’re here and ready to help build, support and strengthen the Territory’s future.”
TEC Automation is committed to addressing challenges by driving innovation, training a Territory workforce and developing cutting-edge solutions, which are all needed to future-proof the NT’s economy and infrastructure.
This includes enhancing water and sewer monitoring in remote areas and supporting Indigenous Essential Services projects to improve living conditions in communities.
“By combining world-class expertise with a deep understanding of the NT’s unique operational challenges, we’re not just keeping pace with industry trends – we’re actively shaping the future of automation and fire safety in Northern Australia,” says Soraya.
“Our dedication to innovation, reliability and local industry support ensures we remain a trusted partner for Territory businesses, government and Defence sectors in building a safe, more efficient future.”
TEC Automation offers a range of automated electrical solutions, such as switchboard building, PLC, SCADA and HVAC.
“The quality of the service delivered is paramount to our expert team,” says Soraya. “Our field and office teams work side-by-side, ensuring that all of our clients enjoy reliable products, services and expertise available anywhere in the Northern Territory.
“With a focus on local manufacturing and smart, sustainable solutions, we’re ensuring Territory-built systems meet the needs of our industries and communities.”
TEC Automation has set up an office in Katherine recently, winning a five-year instrumentation, control systems and electrical infrastructure contract with Territory Generation, and has plans to expand to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.
It is a member of the NT Indigenous Business Network and is Supply National certified. Forty percent of its workforce is Indigenous.
