TEABBA

35 YEARS – AND STILL ‘YOUR VOICE IN THE BUSH’

The Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association is Australia’s largest remote Indigenous media organisation.

It is the local Indigenous radio station that broadcasts from the sunny Tiwi Islands to the untouched beaches and stone country of Arnhem land, across Groote, through the rivers of the Roper Gulf and onto the plains of the Daly Region.

TEABBA is a non-for-profit organisation providing a 24/7 radio service, operational and technical support to remote Indigenous broadcasting services across the Top End.

Remote broadcasters can broadcast in their own community or patch into the hub and broadcast across the whole TEABBA network

The shows can be broadcast in language, relaying important messages to remote communities, such as news, weather warnings, health, specialist visiting dates, and other relevant essential service information.

TEABBA ‘s growth over the years covers 29 communities with additional retransmissions sites at Jabiru, Katherine, Pine Creek and Timber Creek, including a national VAST satellite channel (921), online streaming app and numerous social media platforms.

The radio plays a vital part for Northern Territory Government and Federal Government departments and agencies to get their important messages across in English and language, which ensures that people who live in the remote communities of the Top End are well informed.

TEABBA celebrated 35 years of excellence in the media industry last year and presented special awards to thank the people who have kept the organisation going through loyalty and dedication.
