SUPPORTING TERRITORY BUSINESSES
The Northern Territory Government is delivering a suite of initiatives for Territory small businesses, to support jobs and the economy.
Our small businesses are a key pillar of the Northern Territory economy, and many have been significantly impacted due the shut down and restrictions during COVID-19.
The initiatives are designed to assist Territory businesses recover, rebuild and adapt to new market conditions. The programs will be delivered by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade.

INITIATIVES FOR NORTHERN TERRITORY BUSINESSES
ROADHOUSE TO RECOVERY GRANT
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
Funding is available to assist Territory wayside inns and roadhouses to improve their visitor experience and support infrastructure improvements. Families are a growing self-drive market, and infrastructure that supports families, such as play spaces, family cabins or rooms or baby change room amenities, will be welcomed as part of this program.
The Northern Territory Government will provide $3 for each $1 spent by the eligible business, up to a maximum of $150,000.
Applications close 14 January 2021 at 4pm.
SMALL BUSINESS PIVOT GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
The Small Business Pivot Grant is available to businesses to improve their digital capabilities, including e-commerce solutions and the use of technology to improve visibility and profitability.
Funding can be used to make improvements to the business premises, undertake future skilling or purchase new technology and equipment to assist with accessing new markets.
Grants of up to $10,000 will be available for eligible businesses, with a matched 50:50 co-contribution requirement.
Applications close 2 February 2021.
SMALL BUSINESS JOBMAKER BOOSTER
REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN
The JobMaker Booster has two schemes available to help Territory businesses with specific hiring needs for new workers.
FOR PEAK INDUSTRY BODIES
Matched funding is available to peak industry bodies to support interstate marketing campaigns to target workers to come to the Territory to fill jobs with skills shortages.
FOR EMPLOYERS
In addition to the Australian Government’s JobMaker Hiring Credit incentive for employing young job seekers, eligible Territory businesses that employ a mature Territorian in a new job, can register for the JobMaker Booster. This means all unemployed Territorians can attract a total $200 wage subsidy per week.
SMALL BUSINESS SURVIVAL PAYMENT
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
The Small Business Survival Payment has been established to provide businesses significantly impacted by the coronavirus with funding to help them survive, adapt and prepare for economic rebound.
One-off payments of between $2000 and $20,000 will be offered to support businesses that have experienced considerable reductions in turnover and need some support to get through the ongoing COVID-19 impacts.
• $2000 for businesses with one full time equivalent employee or FTE (including sole traders)
• $5,000 for businesses with 2 to 5 FTEs • $10,000 for businesses with 6 to 19 FTEs
• $20,000 for businesses with more than 20 FTEs
Applications will close once funds have been fully committed.
NOT-FOR-PROFIT TOURISM ATTRACTION SURVIVAL PAYMENT
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
The Not-for-Profit Tourism Attraction Survival Payment has been established to support not-for-profit tourist attractions such as non-government museums and historical sites.
One-off payments of between $2,000 and $20,000 will support those not-for-profits that have experienced considerable reductions in turnover and need support to get through the ongoing COVID-19 impacts and the traditionally low tourist season.
• $2,000 for organisations with one paid full time equivalent employee (FTE)
• $5,000 for organisations with 2 to 5 FTEs
• $10,000 for organisations with 6 to 19 FTEs
• $20,000 for organisations with more than 20 FTEs
Applications will close once funds have been fully committed.
SMALL BUSINESS CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE GRANT
APPLICATIONS OPEN 15 JANUARY 2021
The Small Business CX Grant is a one-off grant for those looking to enhance the customer experience they offer for locals and visitors alike. Customer experience enhancements should address front–of-house improvements for consumers. This could include shade for outdoor seating, misting fans or enhancing shop fronts and entrances.
This grant will be offered through a competitive process, with grants of up to $20,000 available on a 50:50 co contribution basis.

SMALL BUSINESS SAVER GRANT
APPLICATIONS OPEN 15 FEBRUARY 2021
Following the impact of COVID-19, many local businesses have struggled to get back to a financially stable position, reporting that their cashflows were significantly impacted.
With the Business Hardship Package due to finish mid-2021, which provides relief to power, water and other ongoing costs, the Small Business Saver Grant will be available to businesses to help reduce overall ongoing costs.
Grants of up to $10,000 will be available for eligible applicants, with a matched 50:50 co-contribution requirement.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPLY CHAIN SOLVER
APPLICATIONS OPEN 15 FEBRUARY 2021
The Small Business Supply Chain Solver will assist businesses experiencing difficulties with supply chain challenges, such as increasing stock space and remote food supply.
Businesses can apply for funding of up to $10,000 on a 50:50 co-contribution basis, to be assessed on a competitive basis.
Applications close 28 March 2021.
SMALL BUSINESS FINANCIAL FITNESS FUND
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
The Small Business Financial Fitness Fund will assist businesses to build a greater understanding of their financial position and develop strategies to improve sustainability.
Peak bodies are invited to submit an application to deliver relevant financial training programs for small businesses specific to their sector. Training Providers are invited to submit an application to deliver financial and business sustainability training for small businesses. Small businesses will select the most appropriate training program that meets their business needs.
FOR PEAK INDUSTRY BODIES
• Grants of up to $250,000 are available to deliver a training program specific to their sector, with support from the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
FOR TRAINING PROVIDERS/ ORGANISATIONS
• Training providers/organisations can register to deliver financial and business sustainability training for small businesses
• Eligible businesses can apply to participate in a financial fitness training program to improve their financial and business sustainability from March 2021.
