STRATEGIC MESSENGER
Rekeesha Fry, founder and director of Jitta Consulting, is dedicated to empowering Aboriginal businesses and organisations to thrive and become influential players in the Northern Territory economy.

“The ultimate goal is to ensure that Aboriginal Territorians not only receive a fair deal today but also have the opportunity to build generational wealth for the future”.
Based in Darwin, Jitta Consulting provides strategic advisory services to both Aboriginal enterprises and private sector companies across the NT, with a focus on fostering economic independence, growth and sustainable development.
Rekeesha’s approach to business is shaped by her deep cultural connections. With family ties to the Dagoman/Wardaman peoples in the Katherine region and the Yidinji and Kuku Thaypan peoples in North Queensland, the name “Jitta,” derived from the Yidinji word for the Willie Wagtail bird, reflects her ability to deliver both positive and challenging feedback to clients.
Like the messenger bird, Rekeesha balances encouragement with constructive advice to help businesses grow sustainably.
At the core of Jitta Consulting is Rekeesha’s belief in the power of economic independence for Aboriginal communities.
“Government policies to end Aboriginal disadvantage are failing,” she says.
Rekeesha says there is a need for governments and corporate Australia to accelerate wealth creation, economic independence and business enterprise to close the gap. She believes economic independence empowers communities to self-determine their future and address challenges such as artificial intelligence and climate change.
A Territory-born strategist with experience at PwC, KPMG, and Ernst & Young, Rekeesha uses her expertise to help Aboriginal enterprises establish strong foundations for success. She has also supported corporate Australia, contributing to initiatives such as BHP’s Global Indigenous Strategy, Aboriginal Governance and Accountability Framework, and Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Now operating her own consulting business, Rekeesha is proud of her work in building resilient Aboriginal businesses that provide sustainability and employment opportunities for many Territorians.
One of her key passions is advising corporates to improve engagement and commercial agreements with Aboriginal groups, particularly in securing equity in major projects in the natural resources and renewable energy sectors.
She says that equity is more than just a financial stake.
“It’s about having a genuine seat at the table, where Aboriginal voices are heard, cultural and environmental knowledge is respected, and communities have the power to shape projects on their land.
“What better endorsement is there for these projects than to have us as equity partners?”
Rekeesha, a 2023 graduate of an executive business program at Harvard Business School, has been inspired by Indigenous groups worldwide that have achieved remarkable wealth creation and investment portfolios in a short period of 20 to 30 years.
“This is achievable for us in the Territory, and it’s what we must aspire to.”
Jitta Consulting offers a suite of services, including First Nations advisory, business strategy and procurement advisory.
