RISE OF INDIGENOUS REAL ESTATE COMPANY
In the bustling world of real estate, where large corporations often dominate, one company is making waves and setting new standards — the Indigenous Real Estate Company.

The 100 percent Aboriginal-owned business is a shining example of the power of family, culture and commitment.
It was originally established as Elaine Mills Property Management in 2006. Fast forward to 2024, and the company is proudly Territorian, led by mother-daughter combinations of four strong Aboriginal women: Elaine Mills, Terri Walters, Tricia Pearce and Kasey Kopp. The collective leadership is a powerful symbol of resilience, growth and the importance of intergenerational knowledge.
The Indigenous Real Estate Company has skyrocketed to success, managing a 250-plus property portfolio valued at more than $105 million worth of properties across offices in Garramilla (Darwin) and Mparntwe (Alice Springs).
Clientele is impressively diverse, including Aboriginal community-based organisations, property investors, first homeowners, and everyday families.
“Our reputation for effective, efficient property management and sales is stellar,” says Elaine. “Commercial property management is a natural extension of our services, and we’re thrilled to expand and embrace new growth opportunities.”
As the business continues to thrive, the Indigenous Real Estate Company is now focused on expanding its services. With the recent success of the Territory Government’s first-homebuyer incentive scheme, which led to record number of homes being sold in December 2024, the company’s ambition doesn’t stop there.
The business is deeply committed to creating employment opportunities for local people and training the next generation of real estate professionals.
“We take on young people and provide them with the skills they need to thrive in this industry,” Elaine says.
A focus for the Indigenous Real Estate Company is to encourage Aboriginal people to enter the property market as homeowners and property investors. This is a space that many Aboriginal people have not had the opportunity to take part in.
The Indigenous Real Estate Company sees this as a core part of its business.
Inclusivity is a core value of the company, which serves a diverse range of clients, not only from the NT but across all parts of Australia and internationally.
“While we are known as an Aboriginal-owned real estate company, we are far more well-known as a professional, diligent and caring agency that focuses on the opportunities for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to participate in the property market.”
These guiding principles and philosophies reflect the commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
The company’s vision is to create a legacy of employment, empowerment and sustainable growth that extends beyond business and into the communities it serves.
As the Indigenous Real Estate Company continues to grow, with a firm foundation built on respect, service and cultural understanding, the company is set to make even more of an impact on the Northern Territory’s real estate market.
