RHINO INDUSTRIAL

STRONG AND LOCAL

Like so many admirable businesses, the firm started in the most humble of ways 29 years ago – selling plumbing equipment from a tiny shop in Darwin.

Today, Rhino Industrial is a leading supplier of industrial gear to a wide range of industries, including mining, infrastructure, civil engineering, marine maintenance and hydraulics.

The little shop has long been abandoned – the company now operates from two large bases in Berrimah. Directors Bruce Perry, who started the business, Bedros Garske and Adam Wheeler are proud that their company is 100 percent Territory owned, has deep industry experience, offers a vast range of products at competitive prices and has a wide range of stock.

If Rhino doesn’t have a product in stock, the team can order it quickly and at a fair price.

If a customer wants a product custom fabricated, the company has trusted subcontractors nearby who can do the job. Rhino expanded from being a plumbing retailer to a large-scale industrial supplier – selling everything from pipes to valves, from thread sealants to maintenance shafts – to meet a growing demand.

“Nobody was meeting that need so Rhino Industrial did,” says Mr Wheeler. “Rhino has grown with Darwin and the Northern Territory.”

Rhino has worked closely with many clients, including the Power and Water Corporation, Sitzler and many great local Territory businesses.

Civil construction supplies are a big part of the company’s business.

Mr Wheeler, who was born in Katherine, says local companies are growing together by using their community links. “Rhino understands the needs of local industry.

“We are passionate about seeing Territory businesses support Territory projects. Wherever the capability and expertise exist locally, Territory companies should be given every opportunity to deliver the work, strengthening our local economy, creating jobs and building long-term capability within the NT.

“The Northern Territory has an enormous pipeline of opportunity ahead of it, from energy and resources to mining, infrastructure and major development projects.

“For businesses like Rhino Industrial, that growth is exciting, but it is important that Territory companies remain at the centre of it.”

Rhino Industrial, which employs up to 18 staff, is thriving – its civil and infrastructure arm is doing particularly well.

The company has been built on the support of local customers, local contractors and long-term relationships across the Territory.

“Local contracts have allowed us to invest in people, expand our capability and grow with the industries we serve.

“As major projects move forward, we want to see that investment flowing through to Territory businesses wherever the capability exists locally.

“Keeping more of that work in the NT creates jobs, strengthens local supply chains and gives Territory businesses the confidence to keep investing for the future.”

Rhino now services projects, big and small, throughout the Territory.

“We do things on time and on budget,” says Mr Wheeler. “We maintain strong partnerships with national and international suppliers, ensuring all of our products conform to or exceed relevant Australian and International standards.

“By always staying focused on our clients and how to service them in the best way possible, Rhino Industrial has evolved into the premier NT supplier for a diverse range of industries.” TQ
