OUR CASINO RESORT ENJOYS AN UPGRADE
The owners of Darwin’s Mindil Beach Casino Resort are showing great faith in the Northern Territory’s economic future by investing millions of dollars in refurbishing the much-loved complex.
Executives of global hospitality and entertainment company Delaware North immediately agreed when it was proposed that the casino resort be renovated.
“They didn’t hesitate,” says general manager Brad Morgan. “They are very optimistic about our future. This major investment is a sign of confidence in the Northern Territory.”
The casino resort has played a major role in the Top End’s economy and social life since it was built on the shores of the Arafura Sea in 1979.
It attracts thousands of Australian and overseas visitors to Darwin each year and employs about 650 local staff, making it the largest private employer in the city.
“The refurbishment will give the property a fresh, new look,” says Mr Morgan. “There will be more of a relaxed coastal feel – something very much in keeping with our coastal setting.
“We want guests to have a great time. There will be more of a relaxed feel, rather than corporate.
“Having said that, we attract a lot of corporate guests. They can relax at the casino resort but still have the CBD very nearby.”
Work is being carried out in two phases.

The beachside tower will be closed until mid-April while the 52 rooms are gutted and totally refurbished – work on the second tower will be carried out down the track.
Reception is also being refurbished.
The cost of the hotel work is $15 million.
“Guests will be able to enjoy brand new rooms,” says Mr Morgan. “They will be able to walk out the front door and enjoy all the casino facilities.”
The majority of the hotel rooms in the beachside tower overlook the ocean, beachside lawns, and the Infinity Pool.
“It’s a win all around.”
The Vue Bar and Cafe, and the Infinity Pool changing rooms, are also being refurbished at a cost of $1.8 million.
Australian Traveller named Mindil Beach Casino Resort one of the best resorts in Australia.

It described the complex as a “sleek and luxurious offering” just across from the famous Mindil Beach and markets with a “serene, family-friendly feel and a swim-up bar to boot”.
Territorians have great affection for the casino resort – they see it as the go-to place for a drink and a good meal. And maybe a little flutter.
Overseas and interstate visitors recognise it as a comfortable place to stay while enjoying the gaming facilities in a unique city.
The casino resort offers a mix of suites and lagoon rooms and the option of interconnecting rooms for families.
There is a range of function and conference spaces for everything from birthday parties to major economic forums.
When hunger strikes, three distinct dining venues let you choose your flavour adventure:
Il Piatto: A taste of Italy at its finest, with authentic dishes, refined dining and a curated wine list.
Dragon Court: A local favourite showcasing the bold, aromatic flavours of East Asia.
The Vue: A relaxed, family friendly choice serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between.
The casino resort also has a day spa tucked within lush greenery, which offers expertly delivered iKOU treatments designed to calm, restore and rejuvenate.TQ
