NAUTILUS FLIES HIGH IN THE NT

Leading helicopter charter company Nautilus Aviation continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Northern Territory through investment, employment, training and industryleading safety standards.

Nautilus has a fleet of 39 helicopters and employs 118 staff, including 40 pilots, at eight bases across Northern Australia.

It has a successful Indigenous employment program: two Indigenous Territorians work at Nautilus’s Darwin Airport base – Jamie Dawson as a pilot and Jai Nadjamerrek as part of the operations crew.

Jai also has aspirations to become a pilot with plans in place to start his training.

Plans have now been submitted to extend the hangar at Jabiru, 220 kilometers east of Darwin, which houses up to three helicopters, with upgrades at the Darwin hangar also recently completed.

The company services a range of clients, including mining and exploration operations, Parks Australia, and State and Federal governments.

It also carries out surveillance and search-and-rescue for police and AMSA.

Nautilus Aviation is proud of its safety standards, adhering to strict independent external audit processes and holds BARS accreditation.

“Compliance in our industry is very rigorous, as it should be,” says company founder and pilot Aaron Finn, “We are absolutely committed to safety. We’re determined to maintain the highest standards.

“We’re always looking to improve and as part of that we invest heavily in new aircraft and pilot training.”

Nautilus Aviation holds ISO9001 quality assurance accreditation and CASA 138, 133 and 141 certificates, while also adhering to best-practice environmental management policies. A collaboration with SAFRAN Helicopter Engines and Airbus Helicopters to initiate the use of sustainable aviation fuel in its turbine engines is underway with plans to ultimately reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

Nautilus Aviation is currently consulting with industry and government regarding the introduction of twin engine helicopters at its Darwin International Airport base to support the mining industry, Search and Rescue and other government applications. Nautilus Aviation also plans to introduce the new EVEAir Mobility EVTOL to its fleet from 2026, pending CASA approvals, to continue positive steps towards environmental sustainability goals, while also investing considerable infrastructure and creating employment opportunities.

We’re ALWAYS LOOKING TO IMPROVE AND AS PART OF THAT WE INVEST HEAVILY IN NEW AIRCRAFT AND PILOT TRAINING
