LEROY’S CLEAN MISSION

Leroy Villaflors is not embarrassed to admit that he was raised in a tin shed in Humpty Doo.

“I lived life to the full, exploring the bush,” he says.

The tough background hasn’t stopped the Indigenous entrepreneur from building a successful cleaning company based in Alice Springs, the town he now proudly calls home.

Vallaflors Cleaning, which was launched in mid-2023, can meet nearly every cleaning request, including general cleaning, deep cleaning, stripping and sealing, and the cleaning of upholstery.

“The business isn’t just about removing dirt,” Leroy says.

He knows that a clean place to live and work is good for people’s emotional wellbeing.

Villaflors cleaning service differentiates itself in the market through its meticulous attention to detail.

By training their staff extensively on proper cleaning techniques and emphasising thoroughness in every job, they have become known for delivering impeccable results consistently, all leading to increased customer satisfaction and repeat business.

They have become known for their thoroughness in tackling even the toughest messes, earning them a reputation as the go-to company for all cleaning needs.

Leroy has his daughter Mary, other family members, local indigenous employees and multicultural employees working for him.

He plans to grow his business and provide long-term employment for staff.

“I hope that we can help impact, maintain and also enhance the cleaning in Alice Springs.”

He enjoys being his own boss.

“You have control over when you work, what days you work, and even what times of day you take on clients.

“This allows you to build a business that aligns with your skills and interests.

“And there are other benefits – personal satisfaction, the potential for growth, and the direct impact you have on clients’ lives and, most importantly, the community.

“It’s satisfying to see the cleaning staff happy with the results and when clients comment on the results.”

Leroy worked several jobs, including Palumpa store worker, butcher’s apprentice and security guard, before going into business on his own.

“I realised that I wanted to do more. “

With the help of his wife Julie-anne Kruhse, he started cleaning houses and then quickly extended services to businesses, cleaning public areas, airport facilities, commercial properties, clinics, construction clean-up and remote communities.

He enjoys providing professional, affordable and eco-friendly services that make him stand out as an Indigenous business.

Leroy is proud of his Aboriginal heritage and likes to educate his staff about Indigenous culture.

He comes from a poor background and had many financial struggles over the years, but this has motivated him to make his dreams of becoming a business owner a reality.

Now he wants to inspire other Indigenous community members to work hard and make their dreams come true.
