HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR CASINO

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the iconic Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin

Since opening its doors in 1983, the casino resort has become a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike, offering a wide range of entertainment, dining and accommodation options.

From its humble beginnings, what started as a small casino and hotel with just a handful of tables and slot machines, has grown into a sprawling entertainment complex with multiple restaurants, bars, accommodation and a bustling casino.

World-leading hospitality and entertainment company, Delaware North, acquired the property in 2019 and has since invested nearly $20 million of capital expenditure to upgrade the property and cement its position as the premier entertainment destination in the Northern Territory.

The casino resort offers the latest and most popular gaming technology and equipment in the market.

The main gaming floor boasts more than 600 electronic gaming machines and 30 table games, including popular classics blackjack, roulette, and baccarat – ensuring that every guest can play a game they love.

The property’s hospitality offerings sit at the culinary peak of Darwin, with award-winning bars and restaurants on offer, including every-day favourites such as The Vue, authentic Italian fine dining at il Piatto and fine Asian cuisine at Dragon Court.

Guests can bask in the sun at INFINITY, recently named the Territory’s Best Outdoor Entertainment Venue by Hospitality NT’s Aristocrat Technologies Awards for Excellence and the only beachfront infinity pool in the Top End, which transforms into an eclectic beach club experience for the public between Friday and Sunday.

Sandbar offers world-class cocktails over a magnificent sunset, while the Sportsbar serves up tasty pub fare and ice-cold craft beers.

Nestled among the 5-star resort and 4-star hotel lies arguably the property’s biggest highlight – a man-made lagoon pool the size of eight tennis courts, with a tropical white sand beach and Darwin’s only swim-up bar.

A short stroll up the pathway leads to the recently reopened Lagoon Day Spa, featuring a bespoke collection of sublime iKOU Products and Spa Rituals, inspired by global spa culture and the natural beauty of the landscape and ocean environment surrounding the resort.

Mindil Beach Casino Resort is dedicated to innovation and improvement and plans to further invest in its facilities to continue to evolve and enhance the guest experience.

Avril Baynes, General Manager of Mindil Beach Casino Resort, says: “We are immensely proud to serve as stewards of this incredibly unique property, and look forward to continuing to deliver world-class entertainment experiences to our guests while supporting the local community.” Over the past four decades, Mindil Beach Casino Resort has been a major contributor to the Territory economy, providing hundreds of jobs to locals and tourists.

The property’s commitment to community involvement is demonstrated through its partnerships with many worthy organisations, including the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, COTA’s Seniors Expo, NT Tenpin Disability Bowlers, NT Young Achiever Awards, Helping People Achieve, and International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

The casino resort also supports local sports teams, cultural festivals and charity events, reflecting their commitment to the local community.

The property’s dedication to community involvement has helped it become a beloved destination for locals and a highly respected member of the Territory business community.

In addition to its community involvement, Mindil Beach Casino Resort’s monthly charity donation box raises nearly $60,000 each year for local charities, including Foodbank, Run for Dad, Beyond Blue, Camp Quality, Ronald McDonald House, RSPCA and Black Dog.

As Mindil Beach Casino Resort celebrates its 40th anniversary, it is a testament to its commitment to excellence and dedication to providing guests with memorable experiences.

Here’s to the next 40 years
