GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY

The year continues to be a time of high activity in the real estate sector.

The high volume of sales continues across the Top End and growth is now being recorded in some sectors within this market. Affordability and the yield on offer are keeping interstate and local investors active and interested.

Investors are also looking down The Track to Katherine where strong returns on investment are available. Alison Ross, principal at Elders Real Estate Katherine, reports an influx of owner/occupiers wanting to buy as they accept work opportunities in the region.

While it is wonderful to see confidence in this market, the impact of the cost of building new homes continues to impact on the town where the demand for housing is high.

The Alice Springs market is steady and according to Lindsay Carey of Nutrien Harcourts, history suggests the town is about to enter a stronger selling period in the months ahead. With a high number of properties on the market, buyers have plenty of choice in most areas. The demand for rental properties and lack of supply has seen rent increase to the highest the town has ever seen.

Overall, the Territory real estate market is in reasonable shape with Darwin continuing to be one of the most affordable capital cities in Australia to buy a home.

Away from the market trends, our REINT members in the Top End have been busy making the most of the dry season. Day 6 of the Great Northern Darwin Cup Carnival brought colour, energy and networking opportunities as members, colleagues and friends gathered trackside for the Dabble Corporate Race Day.

The annual REINT golf day was a chance to relax and connect with plenty of fun on and off the course as 20 teams competed for bragging rights and prizes.

A shout out to the sponsors who made this day possible: realestate. com, Amari Property Styling, Johns Lyng Group, KeyLaw, Coolit NT, Tap & Drain, Simple Finance Solutions, Liquordownunder, Attitude for Men and The Dress Code.

The REINT Awards for Excellence gala dinner is coming up in October, where we will acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of real estate professionals who make a difference across the Territory. There are so many people and businesses who contribute to the real estate industry, either directly or indirectly, and we encourage you all to join us for a night of fun, live music, food and entertainment. Visit reint.com.au or obm.nt.gov.au to find out more and secure your ticket.

The Elders Katherine team recently attended the Big Rivers Careers Expo at Katherine High School to give students the opportunity to learn about the various roles in industry and the training pathways available through REINT to become a real estate professional.

For those thinking about their next career move, why not explore real estate. The NT real estate industry offers variety, challenges and rewards. From helping first-time buyers, to managing investment properties, negotiating commercial leases or sales, or playing a support or training role, the career paths are many.

If you are looking for a career that combines people, property and community, contact the REINT team or one of our members.
