GOLD PLATES SHINE
The Territory’s hospitality industry was on full display on Monday 30 August, with close to 500 people dining on Darwin Esplanade enjoying a spectacular Darwin sunset.
The 2021 Gold Plate Awards were a celebration of the NT’s hospitality industry’s strength, diversity and resilience all to a tropical backdrop with uninterrupted sunset views – it was amazing.
The menu was a South-east Asian feast designed and created by three well-known Darwin chefs, Jimmy Shu from Hanuman Darwin, Madusha Olupathage from Doubletree Hotels and Danny Yeum from Roast and Noodle and their teams.
The Gold Plate Awards are the premier restaurant and dining Awards for the NT and much sought after from restaurateurs, chefs and their staff.
The trophies are well recognised and acknowledged by the community, signifying great dining experiences. They always showcase perfectly the diverse and amazing food and drink industry the NT has, which despite challenging trading conditions, continues to flourish each year.
With new players such as Phat Mango by Martin the Chef really pushing the boundaries with locally produced food, to our very strong Asian cuisine, we are very fortunate to have an industry that reflects the NT community.
