EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES

INPEX is focused on delivering safe, reliable operations at Ichthys LNG while continuing to invest in the Northern Territory’s long-term economic and energy future.

As one of the world’s largest energy developments, Ichthys LNG provides a strong economic foundation for the Territory, supporting local jobs, creating business opportunities and securing a brighter energy future. We are continuing to build on this foundation through new investments, partnerships, and lower-emissions initiatives.

INPEX has entered into a farm-in agreement with Daly Waters Energy, a subsidiary of US-based firm Formentera Partners, to develop onshore natural gas resources. The Beetaloo sub-basin’s low-carbon natural gas has the potential to provide long-term supply for Ichthys LNG, supporting operations for decades and potentially enabling a third LNG processing train. It also presents an opportunity to strengthen domestic energy security while delivering economic benefits to the Territory.

At Ichthys LNG, we continue to invest in maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our Darwin onshore facilities. We are progressing initiatives to reduce emissions intensity across operations, including exploring carbon capture and storage – a safe and proven technology in use for over 50 years.

Local industry participation remains central to our approach. Territory businesses have played a critical role in supporting Ichthys LNG, and we are committed to maintaining and expanding these opportunities. Working with local suppliers and contractors, means building capability, supporting jobs, and strengthening the region’s economic resilience – which is great for the Territory. Many local businesses have developed specialised skills through their involvement, improving their competitiveness in major projects across Australia and beyond.

We also recognise the importance of supporting and celebrating the cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Since 2012, INPEX has proudly supported NAIDOC Week alongside the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, including this year’s theme “50 Years of Deadly,” which marks five decades of NAIDOC Week and celebrates the strength, resilience and leadership of First Nations peoples.

INPEX is committed to the Northern Territory through strategic investments that support resilient, connected, and empowered communities.

Looking ahead, the Northern Territory will continue to play a vital role in Australia’s energy landscape. From Ichthys LNG to emerging opportunities such as the Beetaloo sub-basin and carbon capture and storage, we see strong potential for growth and innovation. Natural gas will remain an important part of the global energy mix, supporting energy security and the transition to lower-emissions systems.

On behalf of the INPEX team, I thank our workforce, partners, and the Territory community for their continued support. Together, we are delivering for today, while building a sustainable future for the Northern Territory.TQ
