EXCELLENCE REWARDED

Nearly 500 people involved in the NT’s hospitality industry gathered at Darwin’s Mindil Beach Casino Resort lawns for the prestigious Hospitality NT Aristocrat Technologies Awards for Excellence.

There were six individuals recognised for outstanding achievements in the industry, many going above and beyond their role to contribute positively to their business and the industry as a whole:

Dan Woodall from Berry Springs Tavern won the Service Excellence – Front of House Award

Tu Nguygen from Darwin Trailer Boat Club won the Apprentice Trainee of the Year

Maddie Daley from Novotel and Mercure Darwin Airport won the Best Marketing/Sales Events Employee Award

Samantha Bennett from the Doubletree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin won the Hospitality Industry Rising Star Award

Pat Flanegan from Samuel Smith & Son and Bjorn Magabo from H&L POS took out the Sales Representative of the Year Award.

All of the staff nominated do an amazing job for our industry, many going the extra mile to ensure Territorians and tourists enjoy a great experience.

Other major winners included Hilton Darwin named Best Overall Accommodation Hotel, Hotel Darwin Best Overall Metro Pub/Tavern, Casuarina Sports Club Best Overall Large Club, Gapview Tavern Best Overall Regional Hotel, Darwin Trailer Boat Club Best Overall Small Club, One Mile Brewery (NT) Best Brewery and Willing Distillery Best Distillery.

It is great to see the NT’s hospitality industry continue to grow and diversify with new industries such as breweries and distilleries, as well as new venues opening up.

The Best New Venue Award went to popular late-night spot Mayberry.

With the dry season in full swing, one of the most nominated awards was the Best Outdoor Area, which went to Infinity Beats/Bar/Pool at Mindil Beach Casino Resort.

Live music in licensed venues is not only a crucial part of our industry but is vital for the development of local NT musicians and Best Live Music Venue went to Darwin Ski Club.

Significant capital investment continues in the NT’s hospitality industry, with the Novotel & Mercure Darwin Airport taking out a hotly contested Best Redeveloped Accommodation Hotel.

All hospitality operators support their local communities, through sponsorship arrangements, in-kind support, hosting events and much more. The Outstanding Community Achievement Awards are always very competitive, and this year went to Doubletree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin, Noonamah Tavern and Darwin Trailer Boat Club.

Hospitality NT would like to once again thank everyone who nominated for this year’s awards and say a special congratulations to all the winners.
