The Northern Territory’s largest surveying company is celebrating 30 years in business.

Cross Solutions was established in Nhulunbuy with just one surveyor, Graeme Cross, who along with his brother Rob, has worked tirelessly through the good times and the bad to build a thriving business that today employs more than 60 people across four Territory offices – Darwin, Gove, Katherine and Groote Eylandt – and one in Cairns, Queensland.

Rob, the Managing Director, says the company’s success and steady growth are due to three main factors – “strong client relationships, a fantastic team and reinvesting profits”.

Cross Solutions is recognised as a leader in the market due to the level of service provided, and the quality and professionalism of its field staff, who are supported by an efficient corporate team and state-of-the-art equipment.

Cross Solutions works with some of the largest mining and construction companies in Australia, as well as Federal, Territory, State and local government agencies in defence, land development and infrastructure.

Its highly-skilled team has the ability and equipment to travel to remote areas to undertake essential work, as well as work alongside a client’s team to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.

Rob says: “Our word is crucial – if we tell a client that we are going to do something, we do it. They must be able to have faith in us.”

Cross Solutions directors acknowledge that its success is down to its people.

Rob and Graeme are proud of the team that has grown over the years. “We have built up a loyal team with many who have been with us for more than five years, which is a long time here in the Territory,” says Rob.

“Our focus is on looking after our people and their safety – that’s key to our success.”

To complement the professional team, Cross Solutions has its own R&D department which is responsible for building high-spec, specialised equipment to enhance the service the company offers.

Rob and Graeme have a strong focus on reinvesting profit into buying the latest equipment to ensure they remain a leader in the market.

The future looks bright for Cross Solutions, especially with its prosperous working relationship with 4DBaru, a Territory Indigenous-owned land development company.

Rob and Graeme are shareholders in both businesses and are looking forward to developing 4DBaru and Cross Solutions over the coming years.
