CREATING AN EXPERIENCE

Tikesa Hale launched the cleverly-named Xhalevents when she recognised a gap in Indigenous representation in the Northern Territory’s events industry.

She had a clear purpose — to ensure that First Nations voices are respected, heard and valued throughout the event-planning process.

“In an industry that brings together diverse clients and audiences, it is essential that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are not just included but prioritised,” she says.

“Beyond creating meaningful and culturally rich experiences, my goal is to see Indigenous businesses thrive by being involved in events from the ground up.

“From security companies and photographers to artists and emerging leaders, I am committed to providing opportunities that empower and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals.

“Every event is an opportunity to uplift the community, showcase talent and build a future where Indigenous businesses are at the forefront of the industry.”

Darwin-based XhalEvents focuses on producing events that build strong connections and evoke deep emotions for audiences.

The company handles everything from large forums with more than 500 attendees to free community gatherings.

Services range from logistical support to make sure the right resources are where they need to be for the smooth running of an event to integrating authentic cultural perspectives into events.

The comprehensive event management includes all aspects of design, logistics and planning, including planning programs, coordinating speakers, performers and resource logistics, sourcing, selecting and negotiating with contractors and suppliers, designing and managing budgets, supervising staff and volunteers, and maintaining high standards of client communication during event lifecycles.

“This flexibility allows us to customise event management packages to align with clients’ requirements and deliver on their objectives,” says Tikesa.

Plans for growth include the “invent” stream, a creative project that will be licensed for use at events or in other spaces or events, a community of practice and associated events for artists and creatives in the event management industry.

Tikesa is a proud Luritja and Wuthathi woman, born and raised on Larrakia Country.

She has a Diploma in Event Management and nearly a decade of experience in government and non-profit sectors.
